Following her passion is what led Kami Martin to create a thriving line of stationery. After years as a graphic designer, Kami became increasingly bored with the predictability of designing corporate newsletters and brochures and trying to interpret her clients' idea of design. Kami blew off steam and explored her creativity by designing her own holiday cards and invitations. Before long, Kami and a good friend and neighbor found themselves talking about the holiday cards they'd received and the designs they liked. Confident that they could create something new and different, they decided to start their own line of cards and invitations.
Their big break came with an assignment to create the invitation for the wrap party for the first season of a popular national television talk show, quickly followed by an assignment to create wedding invitations for a professional sports personality. The company was creating such a buzz that the company was featured in The Dallas Morning News and received a mention in Texas Monthly. With the rapid growth of the business, the company focused on portfolio-style sample books and started receiving calls from stationers across the country. The goal was to create a fashionable look – no prissy or crafty designs for their line! The collection was to be stylishly hip and sophisticated.
In February 2005, Kami took over sole ownership of the business and in 2006, Kami added an existing thermography printing company, bringing all of her printing in house. Kami continues to be the lead designer for her line and is very excited about expanding her business and product line.
